Green mane
The seven-year-old Alka lives in a new city, built on the site of a village. Near the city there is a large ravine in which dandelions grow. Once the neighbor girl decided to play with Alka and put dandelions in his mouth. Alka hit her, for which he was punished by her older sister Marina.
Most of all, Alka loves one birch, which he calls the Green Mane. He sits on the bend of her trunk, and it seems to him that he is a fabulous giant on a horse. But Marina interrupts dreams, strictly hails him and calls home.
Once a worker appears near a birch and says that there will be a construction site at this place, and the birch will be cut down. A frightened Alka worker promises to find another place for construction. For this, Alka must transfer his rail to the other side of the river, but live. To be in time, Alka goes around and drags a heavy burden from the last forces. Seeing Alka, the boss of the worker is indignant and reassures the boy: they were not going to chop the birch. He will gladly take Alka to work instead of a working parasite, if only the boy grows up.
Alka is looking for a friend
Alka and Marina spend the summer in the camp. Marina is very strict with her younger brother. If Alka had an older brother, everything would be different! Alka is homesick.
On the first night, Alka meets her roommate Vaska, who is fond of birds. In the morning it turns out that Vaska was transferred to another room. Alka is looking for his new friend and is late for the evening lineup. He sees the camp leader shame one of the boys for broken glass in front of everyone and threatens to send him home. The boy denies his guilt, and Alka recognizes Vaska in him. According to the reaction of one of the pioneers of Vitka, the greedy and the roar, Alka realizes that the culprit is Vitka. Alka takes the blame.
Short happiness
After breakfast, Vitka calls Alka to eat blueberries in the forest and leads him to the selmag on the way. There, Alka sees the pants, like the sailors he dreams about, but the boy does not have enough money, he has to borrow.
While riding a bicycle, Alka gets his pants dirty, decides to wash them and dry them over the fire, as a result a hole appears in his pants. With a sigh, Marina makes shorts out of her pants.
Present
Alka is increasingly attached to Vaska, but Marina believes that Vaska is a bully and has a bad effect on Alka. Vaska always stands up for Alka and does not give him an insult.
The sick Vaska is put in isolation. The boys bring Vaska in a bank of fry, but Marina finds out about this and throws them away.
Marina goes to a neighboring camp to agree on a big bonfire, and Alka, missing her friend, asks her sister to take it with her. Marina does not want Alka to run to the sick Vaska in her absence, and agrees. In the lake that got along the road, the Alka gains a flask of water with leeches to take to a friend. Marina thinks that the flask is clear water and, languishing from the heat, asks to drink. Alka does not give and does not yield to her complaints. Returning to the camp, the boy gives the flask to Vaska.
Drops are jumping on the asphalt
Alka recalls how in the yard during the rain he and the guys took a “fungus” from the playground, turned it over, swam in a puddle and got dirty in the mud. Seeing this, Marina immediately interrupted the game to show off in front of her classmate Kotka. The guys went home to change clothes. Offended that his sister ruined such a good game, Alka asked his friend Vitka to hit the ball in Kotka. Vitka kicked the ball and fell into a tree standing between Marina and Kotka, who were sprayed with drops from foliage. Marina’s crepe georgette dress could have sat down because of the water, and where will she go with Kotka now? Then it started to rain again.Together with the guys who have already changed clothes, Alka decided to wait out the rain in the porch.
Resentment
Kotka comes to Alka when Marina is not at home. He accidentally sees her photo and asks her for a wall newspaper. After some time, Marina comes home joyful and reports that they wrote about her in the wall newspaper. Alka says that he gave Kotka a photograph, hoping he did something nice for his sister, but Marina runs away in tears. Alka takes the photo from Kotka and brings it to Marina. Marina inquires that Kotka spoke at the same time, and cries.
In the evening, Alka sits on the windowsill and looks out the window. Marina orders him to get off the window, otherwise he will catch a cold. Alka is sad, Marina is no longer angry.
Teddy hare
Vitka finds his beloved Alkina an old toy, a plush hare. Realizing that Alka is still playing with toys, Vitka makes fun of him and throws the hare out into the yard. Playing football with a hare, the guys tear it. Alke is sorry for his favorite toy, he feels as if he has betrayed an old friend. He wants to pick up the hare, but the guys do not give. Vaska, who appeared unexpectedly, by force takes the hare from the guys and sews it up. It seems to Alka that he feels a small cotton heart beating.
Journey to the White Giant
For the carnival, the whole family sewed an astronaut costume for Alka. He thinks that he has one such a wonderful costume, but the other guys were also dressed as astronauts.
Walking around the school after the concert, the guys come to the physics office, where they have never been before. There they see many interesting things, especially they are attracted to a huge sparkling ball hanging from the ceiling. The guys decide to play space flight. One of the boys is developing a route. They will fly to the White Giant, whose role will be played by the ball. They choose Alka as captain. During the game, something breaks, the guys run away in fear, and Alka, as captain, decides to leave last.
Hearing the steps of the teacher in the hallway, Alka hides. The teacher looks into the classroom and, noticing anything, closes the door with a key. Alka is afraid that everyone has forgotten him, and now he will remain in the classroom until the end of the holidays, and he so wanted to get the first prize! But the guys come for him and bring a prize for the costumes - a box with chocolate animals. The boy developing the route opens the box and shares the chocolate equally between the guys. Alka realizes that today this boy was a real captain.
Sorinka
From the village, which used to be on the site of the city, there was only one house left. There was a wind in the chimney of this house, which Alka called Shurshun. When the wind flew out of the chimney, he rustled leaves on the asphalt. Shurshun had a very harmful wind. Once he turned the ink bottle over to the drawing of the Marinin, and it hit Alka. At a neighbor's girl, he pulled a ball from his hands, hit it on the wires, and the ball burst.
Once Shurshun puts Alka in the eye a speck. The neighboring girl offers to pull her out with her tongue, but Alka is afraid to even touch her eye, so it hurts. She calls the boy touchy, and the guys quarrel.
At home, Alka rinses her eye with water, and a speck pops up. He goes outside and meets a girl. At first they pretend that they do not know each other. Near the house in which Shurshun lives, they put up and think about how to close the wind in the pipe.
City of Spring Birds
Neighbor Alki Shurka came from the North. On the road, he fell ill and now lies alone at home. Alka visits Shurk, telling him about his friends. Shurik draws an amazing city with houses in which multi-colored glass. Alka complements the drawing with his fiction.
Alka introduces Shurka to his friend Vaska. Shurka gives Vaska a drawing.
Shurka soon goes out into the street. While walking, he sees pine trees on whose trunks the bird houses are the same as in his drawing. Below, on a piece of plywood, it is written that it is the City of Spring Birds, and the main architect is Shurka.
Big striped monster
In the evening, looking at the night sky, the boys remember different stories. One of the guys is afraid to go home.It seems to him that something big and striped sits near the fence in the grass. Guys are guessing what it could be. Taking a large volleyball net, they try to cover the monster, burning on nettles and bumping into a burdock. But the monster turns out to be an old mattress.
Alka gives the frightened boy a slap from the frustration. Near his house, Alka helps him fasten the torn strap from his sandals, and he apologizes, because he did not know that there was a mattress in the grass. Alka holds out his hand to the boy.
Night trains
Alkin's cousin Igor should arrive in the morning train. Alka, who always dreamed of having an older brother, is looking forward to Igor, but Igor arrives at night.
Friendship is immediately established between Igor and Alka. Igor goes with Alka to the water station, talks about his unsuccessful love - his beloved girl refused to move to his city.
Igor takes a job at the editorial office. He arrives home late, but Alka is waiting for him, and Igor tells the boy about his work.
Igor draws attention to the neighbor Vera, whom Alka does not like, since Vera constantly plays scales. Now Igor spends almost all of his free time with her, and rarely communicates with Alka and does not fulfill his promise to take the boy with him to the CHP. Once Igor sadly informs Alka that he regrets that he came to their city, it would be better to go to the Far East. Marina tells Alke that Igor had a falling out with Vera. He needs to write an unpleasant article about Faithful father. Alka is afraid that Igor will leave, and tries to talk with Vera, but she is crying.
Vaska calls Alka to the station to collect match labels: people come from all sides, and at the station you can find labels that no one has seen. The boys jump on the train to cross the platform, but Alka does not have time to jump, the train moves. Frightened Alka unexpectedly meets Igor on the train. Igor goes to work at the thermal power station, and then he will return home with Alka by night train. He nevertheless decided to write an article about Verin father. Igor promises Alka to show the construction site, a crane and blue lights.
