: Little Nikita has a good heart. Thanks to his imagination, he sees life in all objects surrounding him.

Five-year-old Nikita is the owner of the house. He lives with his mother, and his father does not even remember, he is fighting at the front. Left alone at home, the boy fantasizes, giving everything around with human features: in the bathhouse he sees the image of his grandmother, the sun seems to him as a grandfather, and in the barrel that is in the barn, according to Nikita, there lives a small bearded man. Frightened by her own fantasies, Nikita runs to work for her mother, but falls asleep along the way.

Returning in the evening, the boy sees an unknown man at home - this is his father who returned from the war. In the morning, the father begins to do business. Nikita, he lets straighten the nails. In the very first nail, the boy sees the image of a little man, but, unlike yesterday’s fears, this little man is kind. To the son’s question, the father answers as follows:

- You invented those, Nikita, they are not there, they are fragile, that's why they are evil. And you worked this nail yourself, he is kind.
