(357 words) Pavel Petrovich Kirsanov - one of the main characters in the novel by I. Turgenev “Fathers and Sons”. This hero fights for the old established traditions, which are replaced by new ones. There is a struggle between generations.
Pavel Petrovich is an accomplished aristocrat who throughout the novel has been fighting for his aristocratic habits. From childhood, he dreamed of becoming a military, and by the age of twenty-eight he could achieve a lot. But his fate was not entirely successful. He falls in love with Princess R, who shatters all his dreams and plans. Pavel Petrovich quit his service, became incapable of anything, and so he lived for a long time, which made him a lonely person.
Throughout the novel, the hero of Bazarov confronts him. The author builds the entire novel on the collision of these characters. Kirsanov is used to living according to English manners and even forgets how to communicate with an ordinary peasant. In all respects he disregards his people and his traditions. Pavel Petrovich uses incomprehensible phrases for the average person in his vocabulary. The author does not try to hide the English image habitual for him, but on the contrary reveals it in all manifestations of character.
From the first minutes of his acquaintance, Kirsanov begins to show negative emotions towards Bazarov, such as “nihilist”, “quack” and many others. They make it clear his attitude to the hero. At each meeting, Pavel Petrovich tries to offend Bazarov, and there are constant conflicts between them. But Kirsanov is constantly defeated in these disagreements.
Pavel Petrovich is a whole story that goes back to the distant past. It is very difficult to live such people among the new generation, which the author tries to show us in episodes with his son and Bazarov. From those around, such people sometimes receive only reproaches and negative emotions. The hero was very worried about the most important question: “What will take the place of the old foundations?”. For him, the most important thing was the person’s personality and its development.
Ultimately, we see that I. Turgenev describes Pavel Petrovich Kirsanov as an ideal representative of high society. He is kind, able to defend the honor of his family and himself. This hero is confidently trying to follow the fashion and trying to figure out all its manifestations. Pavel Petrovich is friendly to others and is ready to intercede for any person, be it a peasant or someone else. But still he lacks tolerance in relations with people, so he leaves his family and prefers to live alone.
