(300 words) Alexander Isaevich Solzhenitsyn wrote the story “Matrenin Dvor” in 1863. This work is about the tragic fate of Matryona - a bright, simple-minded and kind woman, faced with a total misunderstanding of society. What is the meaning of the title of the book? Why is it a conflict of personality and society, and is the work called the name of the heroine’s home?
Surely in every settlement there will be at least one merciful person who brings good to the world and renders assistance to all those who need it free of charge. In the village of Talnovo, this person was Matrena. The fate of the heroine was by no means the best: beloved Thaddeus went missing, and the marriage ended in the death of her husband and six children. For the rest of her life, Matrona worked on a collective farm, helped her neighbors, was not afraid to take on men's duties and hard work. People treated her consumerly, some even with extreme cruelty (Thaddeus forced her to cut the house), but despite this, the woman never demanded a reward for her work, never responded to rudeness. The author describes in detail the customs and way of life of the Soviet countryside: peasants live from hand to mouth, work until the sweat, not receiving any support from the state. What mercy, compassion is there, if devastation and poverty reigns around? But still, the only place in the village saturated with warmth, kindness and righteousness is Matrenin Dvor. Ignatich felt this, renting a room in the sick old woman’s house. He was imbued with the stories of Matrena Vasilyevna, sincerely sympathized. When the woman died, Ignatich realized that it was on such people as she kept villages and sat down. Matrena's yard was a reflection of her humble, crystalline soul. Together with the destroyed house, the last particles of kindness and spirituality in Talnovo disappeared. Another detail: it is by dragging her upper room that the heroine tragically dies. That is, fatal property has caused the village to lose its righteous. The writer narrates about this event.
Summing up, I want to note that the title of the story is very symbolic. Matrenin yard is a symbol of harmony, complacency and selflessness. In his image lies industriousness, humility, philanthropy, which were inherent in Matrena herself.
