There is a belief that a person devotes his whole life to contemplation and through it he creates or destroys. Think about how many works in your life that shocked you? It is those that you are just watching. After such a film, there are no thoughts, only emotions, and only then will the whole philosophical problematic of the picture fall upon you. So, just one of these works is Darren Aronofsky’s film “Mom!”.
The story itself begins with a vision-like phenomenon: everywhere there is a fire, a woman with burns, bruises and an exhausted face, and a man who, putting the crystal on the stand, returns the house to its usual state, and it seems that there was nothing. Next, we see the lady in bed, who is the wife of a man, she is constantly engaged in home improvement, improving and bringing it to the ideal. To the question “Why rebuild the old house, instead of building a new one?”, She replies “This is His house”, and here you can realize what the heroine’s feelings for her husband are and how strong they are. He is (this is her husband’s name) a writer who cannot find inspiration, constantly working in his office. But gradually outsiders appear in their house, it all starts with a doctor who thought that there was a living room, and instead of letting him go, He invited him to stay. From that moment on, allegorical references to the Bible appear, or rather its literal interpretation. Here is Adam, and the fall of the human race, and the murder ...
Events that start evenly gradually gain momentum and become more and more emotionally charged. The longer you watch a movie, the more perplexing it is in you. Mom is shown as a victim of circumstances, who is trying to convey her words, but no one is listening, because of which she disrespects. There are two extreme points in the film, and each of them is caused by more and more chaos. The problem is that, firstly, the house is not big, and secondly, people are shown as fanatics who recklessly destroy everything around, as if they do not understand and do not see what this is going to. But He does not pay attention to what is happening at home, enjoying the sinful life of man and his worship. All this leads a woman to aggression against her husband and people, and to a lack of understanding of how to let them go and let them destroy everything. But this was the essence of the film, to ask the main question and cause such a strong peak of emotions, which reaches its climax at the end, and make us jump up and do something unimaginable.
It can be said that this is one of the most controversial and emotional films that leaves its mark in your heart. After viewing it, you can plunge into long thoughts and questions, which are often not answered. The creator gives you the opportunity to be contemplators and only then draw conclusions. Darren Aronofsky brings to you the whole essence of his vision of the world, after which you will not remain the same.
